The Aikin Library welcomes ALL! Students, staff, and community members. Our mission is simple: Students Read. We accomplish that by putting books in kids’ hands. Reading is the base of everything. If students enjoy reading, they will learn. The library is the place to learn to love reading,

Students will share and discuss their reading when they return to school. Although there is not a specific list of titles that must be read for any grade level or class, students may obtain curated lists of reading materials on the “What Should be Read” page. As a district focused on building a culture of reading, we encourage all parents, staff, and stakeholders to join students in actively reading and discussing their reading.

I was born and raised in Austin, Texas, and moved to the DFW area after I graduated high school. I attended the University of North Texas where I received my bachelor’s in elementary education. I continued my learning by receiving my master’s from Lamar University. I rounded out my learning by obtaining my Librarian Certification through Texas A&M Commerce. I love being at Aikin and being a mom to my three amazing children.
