On Monday, July 27, Apollo Middle School hosted its second Parent Information Meeting for the campus transformation project as part of Richardson ISD’s voter-approved Bond 2025 program. Thank you to the families who attended.

During the meeting, district leaders shared updates on construction progress, student safety, portable classrooms, traffic management, and temporary athletic adjustments while reaffirming Richardson ISD’s commitment to providing a safe learning environment and keeping families informed throughout every phase of construction. District Facilities Services staff provided an overview of the project’s current construction phase and highlighted work completed during Summer 2026, which includes fencing, portable classrooms and covered walkways that will be in place before students return, and a temporary administration suite. Renovation of the existing campus and construction of the new academic wing will continue throughout the Fall 2026 semester, with designated construction zones remaining fully separated from daily school operations. Safety remains the district’s highest priority throughout construction. Extensive safety measures have been implemented to maintain complete separation between students, staff and construction activities. These include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n District staff shared details about \u201cPanther Village\u201d, the temporary portable classroom area that will serve students during construction. The area features covered walkways connecting to the main campus, secured gates, lockable classrooms, climate-controlled learning spaces, emergency phones, fire alarms, security cameras, public address systems connected to the main campus and dedicated restroom facilities. Campus administration and the School Resource Officer will continue coordinating to ensure comprehensive safety coverage throughout the portable classroom area. Families received an overview of traffic patterns for the 2026-27 school year, including updated locations for parent drop-off and pick-up, bus transportation, special education programs transportation and student entrances. Construction activity will remain separated from daily campus operations to help minimize disruptions and maintain safe access for students, staff and visitors. There will be several temporary adjustments to athletic facilities during construction for both games and practices. Track and field facilities and the competition gym will be unavailable during this phase, while the tennis courts and practice gym will remain available.
