Bowie Library Mission<\/strong><\/h4>

The mission of the Bowie Elementary Library is to create a warm and welcoming space where students fall in love with reading. We empower students to become curious, lifelong learners by teaching them inquiry and information literacy skills. Our lessons are designed to support the classroom curriculum, ensuring students can effectively find, evaluate, and use information within the context of their studies. We also promote a school-wide culture of reading while teaching digital citizenship and online safety, preparing students to navigate the modern world with confidence.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Hello! My name is Jody Barber, and I’m so excited to be the Librarian and Instructional Technology Educator (LITE) at Bowie Elementary. The 2025-2026 school year marks my 15th year in education and my third year here at Bowie.<\/p>

As a Louisiana native, I’m a proud LSU Tiger, where I earned my bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. I later received my master’s in Educational Leadership from LSU-Shreveport and my librarian certification from Northwestern State University.<\/p>

When I’m not at school, you can find me curled up with a good book or spending time with my husband and our two sons.<\/p>
