{"id":40122,"date":"2026-08-07T10:30:40","date_gmt":"2026-08-07T15:30:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/schools.risd.org\/ForestridgeES\/?p=40122"},"modified":"2026-08-19T11:08:11","modified_gmt":"2026-08-19T16:08:11","slug":"risd-safety-reminders","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/schools.risd.org\/ForestridgeES\/risd-safety-reminders\/","title":{"rendered":"RISD Safety Reminders","gt_translate_keys":[{"key":"rendered","format":"text"}]},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The safety of students, staff, and visitors is a top priority in RISD.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We have several proactive measures in place to provide a safe and nurturing school environment that promotes student academic growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>These efforts include:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All RISD students are required to wear a badge throughout the school day. In addition&nbsp;<strong>all students riding the school bus are required to scan a district issued badge<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All Pre-K to 12th grade students who ride the school bus to and from school will be required to wear and scan a district-issued badge each time they board and exit the bus. The requirements are part of the district\u2019s commitment to prioritize students\u2019 safety. The measure is designed to help us ensure that students are on their assigned bus route, and to provide a quick response in the event of delays, route changes or emergencies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/web.risd.org\/home\/badge-requirements-for-all-students\/\"><strong>Learn more about the badge requirement for all students<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>New for 2026-2027:<\/strong>&nbsp;Parents of bus school riders can now track their child\u2019s transportation route through the Stopfinder Mobile App. If your child rides the school bus,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/web.risd.org\/home\/transportation-stopfinder-mobile-app\/\">learn more about this new platform here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Other district safety and security protocols in place to help protect students, staff and visitors include:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The district utilizes several procedures and best practices to create and maintain a safe environment, including coordination with local, state and federal authorities.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/web.risd.org\/safetysecurity\/\"><strong>Learn more about the district\u2019s emergency management model<\/strong><\/a>.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Every RISD campus is staffed with a full-time Campus Security Officer (CSO) or School Resource Officer (SRO).\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/web.risd.org\/safetysecurity\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/Visitor-Conduct-notice-ofr-website-02-02-21.pdf\"><strong>Visitors to RISD facilities<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0are expected to conduct themselves in an appropriate manner and must follow any facility entry procedures as a condition of entry.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Everyone visiting an RISD school and facilities must show an ID to sign in through the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/web.risd.org\/safetysecurity\/visiting-a-school\/\"><strong>Verkada Guest System<\/strong><\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/web.risd.org\/studentservices\/code-of-civility\/\"><strong>Code of Civility<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0includes a set of guidelines that promote safety, respect and responsibility within our school community.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The district uses the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/web.risd.org\/home\/crimestoppers\/\"><strong>P3 program<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0for anyone to anonymously report crime and safety-related tips.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/web.risd.org\/safetysecurity\/safety-protocol\/\"><strong>Event Safety Protocols<\/strong><\/a>: RISD campuses and central staff plan for and practice different safety protocols in response to different events\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Emergency Situations: During a school emergency, the district focus is on keeping students and staff safe. For this reason, we ask our families to assist us in the following three ways: stay home, stay informed and be ready. Learn more about our\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/web.risd.org\/safetysecurity\/parent-guide-to-emergency-situations\/\"><strong>Parent Guide to Emergency Situations<\/strong><\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>As we get ready to enjoy the numerous sports and extracurricular activities our students participate in during the school year, please remember our\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/web.risd.org\/safetysecurity\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/RISD-Stadium-Bag-Policy.pdf\"><strong>Stadium Bag Policy<\/strong><\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Before participating in volunteer opportunities in schools and district facilities, all RISD volunteers must complete a background check and an orientation through our new volunteer management system.\u00a0 Volunteer registration will be available later this month by visiting our website \u2013\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/web.risd.org\/home\/volunteer\/\">the Volunteer website<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>RISD is now using\u00a0<strong>Sentinel,<\/strong>\u00a0a new behavioral threat assessment platform, strengthening our ability to identify, assess, and respond to potential safety concerns.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Please be sure your contact information is current so we know how to contact you in case of an emergency during the school year. If your phone number, email, or address has changed, please update your information in ParentSquare or reach out to the front office staff at your child\u2019s school to provide important
