The Jess Harben Library is a center for learning and finding the right books for your needs and wants.\u00a0 It is a place to learn how to get information and figure out if it is the best information for you.\u00a0 The JHE library is the place to find awesome books to read at home or at school.\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/h6>
The library mission is to teach information literacy in collaboration with classroom teachers within the context of the content curriculum, inspire and develop a love of reading and provide diverse materials and services to enable students to become lifelong learners and effective users of information. We aim to grow kind, empathetic, and respectful students who are confident risk takers while being accepting of others. Our students will collaborate, think critically, and advocate for themselves and others.<\/span><\/i><\/h6>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Library & Information Technology Educator<\/i><\/b><\/h4>

Hello! My name is Mrs. Merta.\u00a0 I have been in education for over ten years, five of which were in the classroom as a second grade teacher and my remaining years have been in the library. I am married with one little girl named Evelyn and have three very silly dogs who are my fur babies! I grew up in the Richardson Independent School District as a child and always knew I wanted to give back to the community that gave so much to me. I even began my teaching career in my former elementary school.\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/p>

\u00a0<\/span><\/i>I believe elementary libraries are the best place to be! We get to have so much fun celebrating reading, integrating technology into lessons, and creating fun projects with research. Jess Harben Hawks get to enjoy so many great projects during the year including STEM projects with coding and robots or building projects to create solutions. I love to take a regular lesson and gamify (create a game out of) it to bring enjoyment and make the lesson stickier! I look forward to working with you and your students!\u00a0<\/i><\/p><\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
