Principal Nick Rustin

Mr. Rustin is going into his 15th year in education, and 5th year as Principal at Lake Highlands Middle School.  He previously worked for 4 years as an Assistant Principal at Apollo Junior High.  Before making the transition to administrator, he worked for 6 years as an English teacher at Richardson High School.  His educational journey began as a student teacher at the former Lake Highlands Freshman Center.  Mr. Rustin earned his Bachelor’s degree in Literary Studies from The University of Texas at Dallas and earned his Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Concordia University Texas.

Assistant Principal | Sherry Null

Mrs. Null is serving her 24th year in education and her 3rd year as Assistant Principal at Lake Highlands Middle School. She has 21 years of classroom experience and 5 years experience as a consultant for continuous improvement in schools. Mrs. Null began her educational career teaching 6th grade science and math at Mark Twain Elementary and then at Big Springs Elementary. She then taught 7th grade science at Apollo Junior High for 6 years before joining Lake Highlands Middle School. Mrs. Null earned her Bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of North Texas and her Master’s Degree in Education Administration from Texas A&M, Commerce. Mrs. Null, her husband and their two daughters are all graduates of the RISD.

Assistant Principal | Kelsey Wells

Ms. Wells is serving her 15th year in education and 3rd year as an assistant principal. She previously worked for 4 years in Frisco ISD as a Health teacher and girls’ athletics coach. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education from Oklahoma State University with a focus in Social Studies and her graduate degree in Educational Leadership from the University of North Texas. She has taught in Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Texas. She is also currently working toward a graduate degree in School Counseling from Grand Canyon University.

Assistant Principal | Lindsay Cox

Dr. Lindsay Cox is in her 15th year in education and 1st year as assistant principal. Prior to her current role, she served as the director of Reading Language Arts for grades 3-12, district secondary specialist, a professional learning developer, instructional coach, and high school teacher. Dr. Cox obtained her undergraduate degree in Secondary Education English and returned upon graduation to North Dallas, where she grew up. She also earned a Master of Curriculum and Instruction degree from Concordia University and a Doctor of Education degree from Northeastern University. Dr. Cox enjoys cooking, live music, and competing in trivia nights.
