Principal Nick Rustin
Mr. Rustin is going into his 17th year in education, and 7th year as Principal at Lake Highlands Middle School. He previously worked for 4 years as an Assistant Principal at Apollo Junior High. Before making the transition to administrator, he worked for 6 years as an English teacher at Richardson High School. His educational journey began as a student teacher at the former Lake Highlands Freshman Center. Mr. Rustin earned his Bachelor’s degree in Literary Studies from The University of Texas at Dallas and earned his Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Concordia University Texas.
Assistant Principal | Lindsay Cox
Dr. Lindsay Cox is in her 17th year in education and 3rd year as assistant principal. Prior to her current role, she served as the director of Reading Language Arts for grades 3-12, district secondary specialist, a professional learning developer, instructional coach, and high school teacher. Dr. Cox obtained her undergraduate degree in Secondary Education English and returned upon graduation to North Dallas, where she grew up. She also earned a Master of Curriculum and Instruction degree from Concordia University and a Doctor of Education degree from Northeastern University. Dr. Cox enjoys cooking, live music, and competing in trivia nights.
Assistant Principal | Brenda Martinez
Mrs. Brenda Martinez is excited to join Lake Highlands Middle School as Assistant Principal. With 20 years in education, Mrs. Martinez is passionate about building strong relationships, supporting student success, and creating a positive learning environment where every student feels valued and empowered to thrive.
Born in Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico, and raised in the Garland/Dallas area, Mrs. Martinez has dedicated her career to serving students and families in the North Texas community. She earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of North Texas, a Master of Arts in Conflict Resolution from Southern Methodist University, and a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from LeTourneau University. She completed her Principal as Instructional Leader certification through Lamar University and is currently pursuing her Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership at the University of North Texas.
Outside of school, Mrs. Martinez enjoys singing, teaching private voice lessons, and road cycling. She is honored to be part of the Lake Highlands Middle School family and looks forward to partnering with students, staff, and families to continue building a strong Wildcat community.
Assistant Principal | Antonio Miller
Mr. Antonio Miller enters his 14th year in education as an Assistant Principal at Lake Highlands Middle School for the 2026–2027 school year. He began his career in 2013 teaching 5th-grade Social Studies and ELAR across Red Oak ISD and Dallas ISD before moving to Garland ISD, where he taught 7th-grade Advanced Literary Studies, RLA, and AVID Excel. In the 2021–2022 school year, Mr. Miller stepped into administration as an Assistant Principal at Forest Meadow Middle School.
A Dallas native who grew up in the Fair Park neighborhood, Mr. Miller holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from UNT Dallas, a Master of Education in Educational Leadership from UNT, and a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Amberton University. Outside of school, he enjoys perennial gardening, baking, and reading.
