This observance recognizes the vital role families play in a child\u2019s education, as studies show that family involvement leads to better academic performance, improved attendance, and stronger social-emotional skills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">RISD looks forward to sharing many of the ways that our families can actively participate in their child\u2019s school by engaging in fun and educational activities at home, and focusing on shared experiences like reading and learning new skills together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Key ways to celebrate include volunteering at school, attending parent-teacher conferences, and creating quality time through activities like reading, playing, or even setting up a tech-free day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Here are a few ideas and suggestions to consider:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><a href=\"https:\/\/web.risd.org\/home\/student-growth-goals\/\">Visit with your child about their growth goals<\/a> for the year.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><a href=\"https:\/\/web.risd.org\/home\/focus-for-parents\/\">Check your student\u2019s grades in Focus<\/a> and discuss any plans for needed make-up work or completing missing assignments with your child.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><a href=\"https:\/\/risdpta.membershiptoolkit.com\/membership\">Collaborate and join a parent club (PTA, Booster)<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Visit your local library or go online to get a library card for your child.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Practice digital safety and responsibility with your child. <a href=\"https:\/\/web.risd.org\/home\/digital-tools-resources\/\">See ideas and tip sheets.<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Review Quick Tips for Parents Library.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><a href=\"https:\/\/web.risd.org\/home\/volunteer\/\">Commit to volunteering at your child\u2019s school<\/a>\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><a href=\"https:\/\/web.risd.org\/home\/graduate-profile\/\">Discuss the RISD Graduate Profile<\/a> skills with your child.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">By participating in National Family Engagement Month, families can build a greater understanding of what their children are learning, meet other families, and contribute ideas that benefit the entire school community. When parents and guardians are involved, they show children that education is a priority and that the school community values their
