North Navigators is a WIN time class designed specifically for our gifted and talented students. Navigators come together to participate in a variety of activities crafted to challenge and grow them. Each session focuses on stretching different areas of their development-whether it’s critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, communication, or problem-solving. Through these engaging experiences, students are encouraged to explore new ideas, take risks in their learning, and develop their unique strengths.
In a recent activity, students were tasked with building the tallest possible paper tower using only 20 sheets of paper and a limited amount of tape. To make things even trickier, their tower had to support a food can for at least 60 seconds!
This STEM challenge encouraged problem-solving, engineering design, and teamwork as students tested different structures, adjusted strategies, and learned from one another. The results were as impressive as the creativity and persistence that went into each design.
A special thank you to Ms. Nicole Reynolds, who teaches our 7th grade GT Science class, for guiding a group of our Navigators through this engaging lesson and for sharing the photo featured here.
The North Navigators meet monthly to take on new challenges that build curiosity, innovation, and a passion for learning.
