North Junior High’s theater department recently took the stage at the UIL One-Act Play competition, delivering a powerful performance of “The Lottery.” Based on the famous short story by Shirley Jackson and dramatized by Brainerd Duffield, our students’ hard work and artistic dedication resulted in an impressive Third Place finish!
Performing a UIL One-Act Play requires incredible discipline, as students must manage complex blocking and technical cues within a strict time limit.
In addition to the team trophy, several individuals were recognized for their standout contributions to the production:
- All-Star Cast Members: Bill H. and Belva S.
- Honorable Mention All-Star Cast Members: Christopher T. and Jude M.
- All-Star Technician: Brian S.
Following the official competition, the cast and crew performed a special showcase of “The Lottery” for family and friends. It was a wonderful opportunity for the North community to witness the amazing talent and hard work these students poured into their roles. The photo included here captures a moment from that showcase performance, highlighting the atmosphere and talent that impressed the UIL judges.
