Our 8th-grade AVID students took their very first field trip of the school year, heading over to Pearce High School for a special Richardson Reads One Book presentation with celebrated author Kate Messner!
Event Highlights:
- Behind the Story: Ms. Messner shared the real-life inspirations behind The Trouble with Heroes, walking students through her creative process and what drove her to write the book.
- Exclusive Sneak Peek: Students got an insider look at her next project coming out this February, Keep the Ghost Light On.
- Sweet Takeaways: Thanks to our local community partners, every student left with their very own copy of The Trouble with Heroes—and a delicious cookie baked by a local bakery using a recipe straight from the book!
It was an incredible morning of literacy, career exploration, and inspiration for our AVID scholars. A huge thank you to author Kate Messner, Richardson Reads One Book, and Pearce High School for hosting such a memorable event!
