Discovering Futures and Making Memories at RNJH!

Ms. Polk in the Culinary Arts Lab

At Richardson North Junior High, students are getting hands-on with their futures through two exciting classes-College and Career Readiness and Principles of Hospitality, Tourism, and Culinary Arts. Both classes are taught by Ms. Farrah Polk, who students absolutely love! Ms. Polk works hard to create activities and lessons that students not only enjoy but that also teach them in fun and engaging ways.

College and Career Readiness (7th & 8th Grade)

In CCR, students get the chance to explore what really excites them about the future! The class introduces them to the many career training programs offered in RISD-everything from healthcare and engineering to cosmetology, animation, law, and more. It’s all about helping students find their passions and start imagining where their interests could take them.

Principles of Hospitality, Tourism, and Culinary Arts (8th Grade)

Eighth graders can earn high school credit while exploring the fun and fast-paced world of hospitality, tourism, and culinary arts. Through hands-on activities, students learn about the different career paths in these industries and build valuable skills they can use for years to come. This class is the perfect first step for anyone interested in the Hospitality or Culinary Arts pathways in high school.

Our RNJH Hospitality students recently celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month with a delicious cultural experience! They researched traditions, baked Magdalenas (fluffy lemon-flavored Spanish muffins) and wrapped up the celebration by making chicken quesadillas. Check out all the pics of their fun on our homepage image carousel.

From exploring future careers to cooking up new dishes, students in RNJH’s CCR and Hospitality classes are learning, creating, and making great memories every day!
