Our RNJH Dance Program is excited to share the success of our new initiative for incoming students! We held our first class this week, and it was a great start to the program.
Mrs. Smith, our amazing dance instructor, is offering free monthly dance classes specifically for current RISD 6th grade students in the North and Parkhill learning community. These classes are designed to be more than just practice-they are a chance to introduce incoming students to the heart of the dance program at North. This effort aims to achieve several important goals:
- Educate incoming students about our exciting dance program and curriculum.
- Build interest and excitement for dance as they look toward junior high.
- Provide a sense of community and belonging now, which allows for a smoother transition to North in the fall.
- Most importantly, help our future dancers build a strong foundation in dance.
We also want to give a huge shout-out to the 8th grade advanced dance students who assisted Mrs. Smith with these classes. They provided a wonderful example of leadership and skill for their younger peers. Thank you to: Molly Bennett, Maggie Berry, Bridgette Forneris, Ivey Jacobs, Hannah Larkin, and Callie Massenburg for their time and excellent mentorship!
There are four more sessions scheduled for interested 6th graders:
- Wednesday, January 14, at Parkhill
- Wednesday, February 4, at North
- Wednesday, March 11, at Parkhill
- Wednesday, April 8, at North
