NORTH 7th Grade AVID Takes on Dallas Colleges-Brookhaven & Northlake

Our 7th Grade AVID Scholars had a fantastic time exploring the Brookhaven and Northlake College campuses, gaining a firsthand look at the opportunities that higher education can provide. From engaging campus tours to meeting with college representatives, our students were able to picture themselves as future college scholars while learning about the academic and personal growth that comes with the college experience. The energy, curiosity, and excitement our students showed throughout the day were truly inspiring!

Both campuses offered insight into the myriad of degree and certification programs available — ranging from health sciences and information technology to business, education, and the arts. Students were especially intrigued to learn that these colleges also offer four-year degree programs that can seamlessly lead into professional careers and internship opportunities. This visit helped our AVID Scholars connect classroom learning to real-world possibilities, reminding them that college and career readiness truly begins now.

Additional highlights from our scholars’ visit include meeting Northlake College Blazers Athletic Director (Adrien Rigby), shooting hoops on the Blazers’ Basketball Team’s floor, and having lunch at CiCI’s.
