The following information was shared regarding the upcoming construction and its impact on our campus. <a href=\"https:\/\/schools.risd.org\/RichardsonWestJH\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/51\/2026\/05\/2026.05.18-RWMS-Parent-Meeting-1-FINAL.pdf\">Please see the full 5\/18 presentation for specifics on each topic as well as the renderings, site plan, and floor plan.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Construction Phasing&nbsp;<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">The project is scheduled with the goal of substantial completion by August 2028. Since the new Richardson West MS is a new build and will be built on the other side of the existing property, students will continue to attend school in the existing building until its completion for the 2028-29 school year.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Summer 2026 &#8211; Fall 2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Construction fencing and mobilization on site<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Existing Front and East Drive remain opened<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Richardson HS Baseball Field demolition to be complete during summer<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\">New building under construction<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Traffic Management \u2013 Fall 2026<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\">The existing bus loop and front drive remain open for the parent pickup\/dropoff area for bus pickup\/drop off, and queuing area. Additional staff parking will be available in a lot owned by the district along Holly Drive.\u00a0 Sidewalks along Holly Drive will remain accessible.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><br><\/strong><strong>Construction Safety<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Strict measures are in place to separate students from construction activity:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>Complete Separation:<\/strong> A complete separation between students\/staff and construction workers will be maintained at all times.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>Personnel:<\/strong> All construction workers must pass background checks and wear badges.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>Access:<\/strong> Workers will use a separate entrance and park within the construction zone. Only authorized construction staff can unlock gates between the construction and student areas.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>Coordination:<\/strong> School leadership and the construction team will meet weekly to plan for campus events to minimize impact.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Athletics: Temporary Adjustments for 2026-2027<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Due to construction, several athletic facilities will be unavailable on campus, and certain athletics will be moved off-site to nearby sites. Ongoing coordination and communication will take place during the school year. More information will be shared at a future meeting for athletics families&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Football @ Richardson HS for 26-27<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Soccer @ Richardson HS for 26-27<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Track @ Richardson HS for 26-27<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Tennis @ Richardson HS for 26-27<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Volleyball @ Richardson West for 26-27<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Basketball @ Richardson West for 26-27<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Upcoming Meetings:<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>Athletic Parent Meeting:<\/strong> Early August<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>Parent Meeting #2:<\/strong> Early August<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Our top priority is to ensure a safe and smooth experience for all students and staff.
