What a Great Week!

Baby Chickens

What a phenomenal week it has been! We kicked off the week In Our Teacher Appreciation EraAll staff members were celebrated for their collaborative efforts in making SCE the greatest school on Earth. PTA spoiled us with an incredible waffle bar, flowers, Amazon gift cards for classroom supplies, notes of appreciation, Sonic drinks, 10 minute relaxation massages, and a catered lunch from Jazzy’s Tacos! Thank you to our Spring Creek families and PTA for showering our staff with love. Extra big thanks to Mallory Duncan and Jessica Baxter, our teacher appreciation duo extraordinaire!

The Talent Show returned this year under the coordinated efforts of Aimee Bacarella, Chrissy and Peyton Healey, Kat Moorehead, and Olivia Mayberry. Our 4th, 5th, and 6th grade students were involved in every aspect of the show including stage crew, lighting, masters of ceremonies, and performers! It was so much fun to see the super talent and variety in performance!

We eagerly awaited the arrival of the chicks this week. Wednesday was a BIG day! Each class started with 12 eggs, and now there are 18 precious chicks! While the 1st grade teachers and students became poultry scientists, I learned some fun facts along the way as well:

  • You can hear chirping inside the eggs before the baby chicks are born.
  • Baby chicks in an incubator need to dry off before removing them, because they can’t control their body temperature for 12-14 days. Shortly after removal, they will “fluff up” under the heat lamp.
  • Candling chicken eggs is a way to see if the eggs are fertile and will hatch into baby chicks. It was exciting to observe this process with the kiddos.

This has been an unforgettable experience for all of us, a definite memory maker!

Sixth Grade Traditions are Underway

⚾Last night was the start of a two week celebration of our 6th grade leaders of SCE. They enjoyed an evening at the Rough Riders game with their families, a long standing tradition.
