Principal Karen Fields

Dear Spring Creek Families,

I am honored and thrilled to announce that I will be the new Principal of Spring Creek Elementary for the 2022-2023 school year!! Spring Creek has been near and dear to my heart since 1998 when I moved back to Dallas and began raising my family in this wonderful community.

I began my 31 year educational career in Austin where I taught after graduating from the University of Texas and then taught in San Diego, Corpus Christi, and returned to Richardson, this time as a teacher inspired by the many fantastic teachers I had growing up in RISD.

I have a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of North Texas and an Administrative Certification from Concordia University. Most recently, I have served as the Assistant Principal at Spring Creek since January of 2019.

I am the proud mom of Tommy, a University of Arkansas graduate and Anna, a University of Texas graduate. Both of my children attended Spring Creek, Westwood, and graduated from Richardson High School. I, too, am a Richardson High School graduate, and I am beyond excited to support this great learning path of success for your children.

There are so many things that make Spring Creek Elementary a shining star. Among them are your precious students, our dedicated staff and wonderfully supportive families. I look forward to a continued partnership with you to support our long-standing commitment to educational excellence, innovation, and inclusive school community!

Have a fantastic summer, and I will look forward to seeing you in August! #proudtobesce

Sincerely,

Karen Fields
Principal

I am excited to be joining the Spring Creek family as the Assistant Principal for the 2022-2023 school year. I know firsthand how special this school community is, having attended Spring Creek and Westwood, and having graduated from Richardson High School. I am honored to be given the opportunity to contribute to the tradition of excellence at Spring Creek Elementary.

I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology with an emphasis in Teaching from Abilene Christian University. Following my graduation from ACU, I began my career at Richardson High School, where I have taught Biology and coached Cheerleading for the past 5 years. During the 2021-2022 school year, I completed an administrative internship at Richardson High School. I hold a master’s degree in Educational Leadership and a Principal Certification from the University of North Texas.

I am thrilled to continue my career within the Richardson Learning Community (Once an Eagle, Always an Eagle!). My husband and I have recently moved into our first home in Arapaho Heights because we love and believe in this learning community. I look forward to meeting you all in the fall and to a wonderful school year together! #proudtobeSCE
