Principal Karen Fields

Dear Spring Creek Families,

I am honored to serve as the Principal of Spring Creek Elementary, which has been near and dear to my heart since 1998 when I moved back to raise my family and teach in this wonderful community.

I began my 35 year career in education in Austin where I taught after graduating from the University of Texas. The United States Navy took our family to San Diego and Corpus Christi where I continued to teach before returning to Richardson, inspired by the many fantastic teachers I had growing up in RISD.

I have a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Education from the University of Texas, Master’s degree in Education from the University of North Texas and an Administrative Certification from Concordia University.

I am the proud mom of Tommy, a University of Arkansas graduate and Anna, a University of Texas graduate. Both of my children attended Spring Creek, Westwood, and graduated from Richardson High School. I, too, am a Richardson High School graduate, and I am beyond excited to support this great learning path of success for your children.

There are so many things that make Spring Creek Elementary a shining star. Among them are your precious students, our dedicated staff and wonderfully supportive families. I look forward to a continued partnership with you to support our long-standing commitment to educational excellence, innovation, and inclusive school community!

I am excited to return for another wonderful school year at Spring Creek Elementary as the Assistant Principal. I know firsthand how special this school community is, having attended Spring Creek and Westwood, and having graduated from Richardson High School. I am honored to be given the opportunity to contribute to the tradition of excellence at Spring Creek Elementary.

I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology with an emphasis in Teaching from Abilene Christian University. Following my graduation from ACU, I began my career at Richardson High School, where I taught Biology and coached Cheerleading for 5 years. During the 2021-2022 school year, I completed an administrative internship at Richardson High School. I hold a master’s degree in Educational Leadership and a Principal Certification from the University of North Texas.

My husband and I live nearby in the Arapaho Heights neighborhood and look forward to our daughter, Margot, attending Spring Creek in the future.

I am thrilled to continue my career within the Richardson Learning Community (Once an Eagle, Always an Eagle!). I look forward to seeing you all in the fall and to a wonderful school year together! #proudtobeSCE
