The 2025-2026 Texas Education Agency (TEA) accountability results officially released today, confirming what we’ve been working toward — RISD’s continued growth and student progress have moved the district to a B rating!
This accomplishment is a direct reflection of our North Star Goal: Every student, teacher and leader will meet or exceed their academic growth goals. “The progress reflected in this year’s results is a reflection of the collective commitment of our teachers, leaders, staff, students and families to keeping student growth at the center of everything we do,” said Superintendent Tabitha Branum. “Together, we are making meaningful progress and ensuring more students have the opportunity to reach their full potential.”
RISD has improved from a C rating (79) in 2025 to an official B district rating in 2026, with an overall score of 83. The achievement reflects continued progress across multiple grade levels and subject areas.
Key highlights include:
- 31 RISD campuses earned an A or B rating.
- 100% of high schools achieved an A or B rating.
- All Learning Communities averaged a B rating.
- Significant performance gains across all Junior High Mathematics programs.
- Students performed at or above the state at the Meets Grade Level standard in 14 of 20 tested areas and exceeded the state at the Masters Grade Level standard in 18 of 20 tested areas.
- RISD schools earned 113 TEA distinction designations, 12 more from 2025.
- The number of campuses earning distinctions increased from 30 in 2025 to 34 in 2026.

As previously shared, campus principals will share accountability ratings with families on Friday, Aug. 14 when scores are released by TEA, along with information about what the results mean and the steps being taken to support continued student success.
