• Dear CCE Families,

Welcome to the start of the 2021-2022 school year! The beginning of the school year is always a time that fills me with joy, but the excitement for this year is immeasurable. This will be my third year at Canyon Creek Elementary and each year I make more and more connections with our families. It is my deepest desire to continue to connect with students and each of you. If we have not had the pleasure of meeting yet, let’s connect soon!

Having students back in our building at the Meet and Greet was just what our staff needed after returning back to work this week. You might have seen that the theme for the district is #RISDPowerofLove. The power of love is exactly what I saw in our building Friday night. Thank you for showing up and filling our campus with joy! The Back to School Bash, sponsored by our wonderful PTA, was a huge hit! Seeing everyone with their friends and getting to talk with you, was so much fun!  #CCEBetterTogether is our campus’ focus this year, because we truly are better as a team. Last year was a difficult year for everyone, but I could not be more proud of the resiliency of our school and community. Oftentimes we hear about what was lost last year. We know that we have work ahead of us that we owe to our students to ensure that they are academically prepared and challenged; however, there were still some truly amazing things happening last year on campus. Teachers and students showed up every day ready to learn and grow. Teachers formed unforgettable bonds with their students and we got through a difficult time together. At our annual Connects Conference for principals and leaders in the district, Canyon Creek was the ONLY school in the district to be recognized for showing growth in math (measured by MAP data) in kindergarten, first, second, third, fourth, fifth, and sixth grade! I am so proud to be a part of such an amazing school.

With announcements, protocols and mandates that change our situation daily, I ask that you continue to be flexible and hang in there with me! I will always do my best to answer the questions that you have, so please do not hesitate to reach out. When I have any new information regarding COVID protocols or the district’s blueprint, I will be sure and communicate that with you.

I am committed to making this a wonderful school year for our students, staff and community. I have a feeling it is going to be really great!
