{"id":25880,"date":"2025-03-07T11:41:05","date_gmt":"2025-03-07T17:41:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/schools.risd.org\/forestmeadowms\/?p=25880"},"modified":"2025-03-07T11:41:05","modified_gmt":"2025-03-07T17:41:05","slug":"congratulations-fmms-orchestra","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/schools.risd.org\/forestmeadowms\/congratulations-fmms-orchestra\/","title":{"rendered":"Congratulations FMMS Orchestra!"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Congratulations go out to the Philharmonic and Symphonic Orchestra students on their performance at our UIL state assessment this week.&nbsp; Both groups earned an Excellent rating for their Stage performance and a Superior rating (that\u2019s the highest rating the judges can give) for their Sightreading Performance.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For those of you who are unfamiliar with Orchestra UIL and are curious about what it is, here\u2019s a short explanation for you:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00b7&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<em>They perform three prepared songs (selected from a prescribed state list) on stage for three judges<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00b7&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<em>Then they go to a separate room and read a piece of music \u201cat sight\u201d that they have never seen or played before that day \u2026.and they only have eight minutes to learn it!<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Please congratulate these students if you see them.\u00a0 This represents several months of hard work, and &#8220;I am so proud of how well they represented FMMS at this event&#8221; says Orchestra Director Kara Taeger.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;As always, our music programs at FMMS are fabulous!
