District Alternative Education Placement

Purpose

The DAEP provides an educational alternative for RISD students who have been removed from their home campus.

Our focus is:

Holistic Student Support
Inclusive and Positive Environment
Academic and Personal Growth
Family and Community Involvement
Continuous Improvement and Evaluation

The DAEP offers a 2nd chance to students who, because of inappropriate behavior, may otherwise lose the opportunity to continue their public education at their home school.

Vision

“Empowering Every Student: A Pathway to Success through Inclusive, Therapeutic, and Innovative Education”

We envision a transformative educational environment where every student, regardless of their background or challenges, is empowered to succeed. Our non-traditional high school and alternative education placement center will blend rigorous online academics with therapeutic support to address social-emotional needs, focusing on trauma-informed practices, substance use intervention, and the management of aggressive behavior. This innovative, inclusive approach will support students in overcoming barriers, fostering resilience, and achieving their fullest potential.
