First grade students learned about American puppeteer, illustrator, and inventor Tony Starg from the book Balloons Over Broadway. They were inspired to create their own balloons modeled after Tony Sarg’s famous balloons he made for the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade. The day before fall break, first graders paraded through the school grounds with their balloons on display. Students walked with their houses, led by 6th grade house leaders and their house spirit animal balloon.
