LHE and Wallace Elementary held the annual staff kickball game and have turned the friendly rivalry into a major win for students! It was Lake Highlands’ turn to host, and we played in the hopes of breaking the “LHE Home Game Curse”. Though we’ve had our share of wins, there has not yet been a victory at home in the 13-year history of the game.
The game not only drew hundreds of families and community members on the beautiful evening, but also raised over $12,000 through sponsorships and fundraising efforts to support our fifth-grade experiences! It was a fun night full of cheers and friendly competition.
As an additional fundraising effort, students joined the fun and purchased trading card packs featuring their teachers. They spent the week leading up to the game collecting, trading, and getting them signed by faculty members. Students were also able to bid on the chance to be student announcers and kick the first ball of the game!
The tradition has become one of our community’s favorite events and gets bigger and better every year. We can’t wait until next year for a chance at redemption.
