At Stults Road Elementary, home of RISD’s first Two-Way Dual Language choice program, students are fully immersed in the experience! Students don’t just learn the language, they live it.
Our community of native English and Spanish speakers grows side-by-side. Our students don’t just learn the language, they live it. From day one, we offer an immersion experience, building Spanish Literacy and English literacy for all students, developing both the biliteracy, bilingual, and bicultural skills that last a lifetime!
What is Two-Way Dual Language?
Unlike one-way dual language programs, the students in our two-way dual language immersion program are composed of equal numbers of native speakers of Spanish and native speakers of English. Instruction is provided in English and Spanish, and language learning is integrated with content instruction as students progress through elementary years. In order to offer an immersion experience, English-speaking students receive literacy instruction in Spanish beginning in the early elementary grades.
Program Goal
Our goal is for both our native English speaking and native Spanish-speaking student groups to become bi-literate, bilingual, and bicultural scholars.
