What a great year we had Bobcats! We hope you have an amazing summer! Here are some ideas for activities you can try out when you get bored; or any time! 

Kindergarten – 2nd Grade

  • Backyard camping: Set up a tent, tell stories, and roast marshmallows.
  • Nature scavenger hunt: Explore a local park or backyard, looking for leaves, rocks, insects, and more.
  • DIY bird feeders: Make simple bird feeders using pine cones, peanut butter, and birdseed.
  • Sidewalk chalk art: Decorate the driveway or sidewalk with colorful chalk drawings.
  • Water balloon toss: Cool off on a hot day with a fun water balloon game.
  • Build a fort: Use blankets, pillows, and furniture to create an indoor or outdoor hideaway.
  • Library visits: Discover new books and participate in summer reading programs.

3rd – 4th Grade

  • Bike rides: Explore new trails or bike paths in your neighborhood.
  • Geocaching: Use GPS coordinates to find hidden treasures in your community.
  • Science experiments: Try simple experiments at home with household ingredients.
  • Gardening: Plant a small garden or help care for existing plants.
  • Board game tournaments: Challenge family and friends to classic or new board games.

5th – 6th Grade

  • Volunteer work: Help out at a local animal shelter, food bank, or community center.
  • Coding camps: Learn basic coding skills and create simple programs.
  • Learn a new instrument: Explore music lessons or try playing an instrument at home.
  • Sports leagues or camps: Join a team or try a new sport.

  • Learn to cook: Help prepare meals or try simple recipes.

Parent Tips:

  • Balance screen time with outdoor activities. Encourage kids to spend time in nature and get exercise.
  • Involve kids in planning activities. Let them choose activities they’re interested in.
  • Keep a flexible schedule. Don’t over-schedule; leave room for spontaneity and relaxation.
  • Make time for family fun. Plan outings, game nights, or movie nights together.
