The spring semester is in full swing, and CCE is gearing up for a lot of fun! Read on to find out what’s happening soon at school.
Enrollment Opens – February 27
Enrollment for the 2024-25 school year opens online Tuesday, Feb. 27 at 8:00 a.m. Whether you’re new to RISD or returning for another year of school, parents can take advantage of convenient online enrollment using a PowerSchool registration account. Enrollment for returning students will require a “snapcode” that will be emailed to current parents on February 26.
Starting Feb. 27, enrollment for next school year will open for all current or future students in Pre-K through grade 12. Please click here for more information about the enrollment process and what documents are necessary to complete enrollment.

STAAR Interim Testing (Grades 3-6) – February 27 – 29
CCE Families,
I can’t believe that it is almost March! We are full steam ahead here at CCE. Please be mindful of our STAAR Interim Assessment dates (for grades 3-6) outlined at the bottom of this newsletter. Your child’s attendance is important everyday, but please be especially mindful to not schedule doctor’s appointments on test days if at all possible. This year, students took a Fall Interim Assessment that we will be able to use for a growth comparison after receiving spring scores. In turn, as a staff we will have very specific data related to the standards that your child is mastering, and those that they still need support on.
Our 3rd-6th grade teachers are already working with students on the Cambium platform during the instructional day, and during tutoring. During open house, you will be able to view the platform and ask any questions regarding the STAAR test. Please be looking for information from your child’s classroom teacher on how to access the testing platform at home. We want to encourage you to explore the platform and test questions at home with your child. We want all students to feel adequately prepared and exposed to this platform prior to testing.

Spring Book Fair – March 4 – 8
We are excited to host a Spring Scholastic Book Fair March 4-8! Students will preview the book fair to create their wishlists, and your student will have a class shopping time during the week to purchase items. Please send cash or sign up for an e-wallet here. Due to our CCE News Broadcast, the book fair will not be open to shop in the mornings. We will be open for family shopping at our Open House on Thursday, March 7. We look forward to seeing you at the Scholastic Book Fair!
CCE Open House – March 7
Please join us for Open House on Thursday, March 7th from 5:00-6:30 PM. You will have the chance to visit your child’s classroom and see what they have been working hard on in class. Additionally, specials teachers and student support staff members will be present and ready for you to visit their classrooms! This is a come and go event that should last around 15-20 minutes.
Please know that we will be closing the doors at 6:15 in order to honor our teacher’s time.
Total Solar Eclipse – April 8
There’s going to be a solar eclipse over Richardson on April 8, 2024, and we’re so excited to experience it with you! All teachers and students will be provided with protective glasses to view the eclipse during the school day. What a fun experience our students will remember forever!

Send us your best snapshots for the yearbook! We need your help to make sure that all students are well represented in this year’s publication. If you’ve taken any photos at school events, in the classroom, or sports events, we’d love to have access to them! You may only upload 10 images at a time. You may also email your photos to yearbook@ccepta.org. Please include names, grade level and information including event or activity when emailing.
The 2024 CCE Talent Show is coming soon! This year’s theme is Texas Legends – choose an artist, sports team, person, place or thing that represents Texas. The Talent Show will take place on April 26, 2024.
