Staff, Students & Families of Canyon Creek Elementary,

It is with great pleasure that I introduce myself as the new Principal of Canyon Creek Elementary. I am humbled and excited to follow in the footsteps of the amazing Mrs. Baker, and I can’t wait to extend the foundation of excellence that has already been created for our school.

The 2024-2025 school year will bring us a year of new faces, prosperous beginnings, and meaningful relationships that will cultivate our school culture and enhance our academic performance. This year we welcome new students and families from Mohawk Elementary joining the CCE school community and I can’t wait for us to join forces and reach for our North Star Goal of every student, teacher, and leader meeting or exceeding their academic growth goals!

I look forward to meeting all of you in person and working together as partners as we successfully continue the Cougar momentum and guide our students to greater heights. I am in the process of creating opportunities for us to meet face-to-face, but until then, I’d like to tell you a little bit about myself.

My name is Jennifer Martin, and my husband, Steve, and I have been married for 26 years. We have three children. Our son, Alex, graduated from Pearce High School and is a senior at the University of Oklahoma. Our daughter, Abby, will be starting her senior year at Pearce and is a member of the Pearce Pacesetters and Mustang Stampede. Our youngest daughter, Kate, will be starting her 8th grade year as a cheerleader at Parkhill Junior High.

I am thrilled to serve as Principal in a district I respect and value. I started my career in RISD upon graduating from Stephen F. Austin as a teacher at Terrace Elementary while working to obtain my Master’s degree in Administration. I then became the Assistant Principal of Dover Elementary before transitioning into Principal at Merriman Park Elementary, Mark Twain Elementary, and Spring Creek Elementary. After 15 years of school administration, I stepped into a consultant role with the state of Texas Region 10 Education Service Center to support aspiring and new principals. This role brought me so much joy as I learned about all the great things happening across schools in Texas. The more I connected with other districts, the more my heart missed the one district I’ve always called home. I missed working directly with students and teachers, supporting their growth, and cheering on their progress.   My heart is now ready to explode, realizing I get to do this once again at Canyon Creek Elementary!

I’m in the process of getting set up with an RISD email account, but if I may assist with anything in the meantime, please feel welcome to contact me at jenniferjmartin98@gmail.com.

I can’t wait to meet you!

Sincerely,

Jennifer Martin
