2024 is kicking into gear, and this semester will have a lot of things to do! Read on to find out how CCE is getting the spring semester started.
CCE Young Authors – January 26 – March 6
Young Authors is a PTA program for students who want to write, illustrate, and publish their own book for the CCE Library. Over the course of 6 weeks, we’ll send you weekly instructions to guide your budding writer from home as they create their own story. The PTA covers the cost of the CCE Library’s copy of each book. You can purchase a copy for your home for $12. Sign up and pre-purchase your book copies in the Online Store section of the PTA website by January 26.
The program will kick off the week of January 29, and books will be due by March 6.
If your student wants to participate but you don’t wish to purchase a copy of their book, just email youngauthors@ccepta.org and we’ll get you signed up.
Used Book Fair Collection Week – January 29 – February 2
The RISD Council of PTAs Used Book Fair is coming! Each classroom will be collecting used books the week of January 29 – February 2, 2024. Please note that CDs will not be accepted this year. The class that collects the most will earn a popcorn party! Collected items will be donated to RISD’s Used Book Fair, which funds scholarships for graduating seniors and continuing education for teachers.
Badly damaged books will not be accepted. Please do not donate magazines or CDs. For questions about what items will be accepted, please email melindabitner@gmail.com or jodialeene@gmail.com.
The RISD Council of PTA’s Used Book Fair will be open to the public February 15-19.
Bingo Night – February 2
CCE PTA is hosting our annual Bingo Night on Friday, February 2nd in the CCE Cafeteria. There will be games and prizes, and 6th grade will be selling pizza, snacks, and drinks to support their graduation fundraiser. There will be a brief PTA meeting at 6:30 pm, and the games will start at 6:45 pm.
Valentine Box Decorating Contest – February 6 – 9
It’s time for the Valentine’s Day Box Decorating Contest! All students are encouraged to participate and get their creativity flowing. Teachers will be voting on their favorites in 12 categories which are sweetest, funniest, most creative, most dazzling, silliest, yummiest, most adorable, most original, most CCE pride, best TV/movie-themed, best of Pre-K through 2nd grade, and best of 3rd grade through 6th grade. Boxes need to be functional (able to receive valentines), able to be carried into school by the student, and all creations must be dry of paint and glue when brought to school.
Drop off for Pre-K through 2nd grade is Tuesday, February 6th 7:30am – 7:50am and drop off for 3rd grade through 6th grade is Wednesday, February 7th 7:30am – 7:50am.
We can’t wait to see all the fun and lovely designs! Winners will be announced on Friday, February 9th.

Send us your best snapshots for the yearbook! We need your help to make sure that all students are well represented in this year’s publication. If you’ve taken any photos at school events, in the classroom, or sports events, we’d love to have access to them! FROM YOUR MOBILE DEVICE: Search for Balfour ImageShare in your app marketplace and download the app. Create an account and use our Project Number – 429255. No upload code needed. You may only upload 10 images at a time. You may also email your photos to yearbook@ccepta.org. Please include names, grade level and information including event or activity when emailing.
The 2024 CCE Talent Show is coming soon! This year’s theme is Texas Legends – choose an artist, sports team, person, place or thing that represents Texas. The Talent Show will take place on April 26, 2024.
Come and share your expertise with our students at this year’s Career Day! Career Day will be occuring on May 21. Simply fill out the Google Form here and more information will be coming soon. You don’t have to be a CCE parent to take part in Career Day.
