We’re back from Spring Break, and there’s a lot of fun waiting to happen at school! Read on to find out what events are happening soon.
CCE March Madness – March 1 – 28
Get ready to slam dunk into some books! This spring, we’re gearing up for March Madness at CCE. Every Friday during the tournament, students will receive a March Madness reading log. Students will turn in their reading logs every Friday for scoring. (During the week of spring break, reading logs are due the Monday after the break, 3/18). Classes may earn a party for highest points and participation.
Total Solar Eclipse – April 8
There’s going to be a solar eclipse over Richardson on April 8, 2024, and we’re so excited to experience it with you! All teachers and students will be provided with protective glasses to view the eclipse during the school day. What a fun experience our students will remember forever!
STAAR Testing – April 16 – 26
April 16th – Reading (3rd-6th)
April 17th – Makeup Testing
April 18th – Science (5th only)
April 19th – Makeup Testing
April 25th – Math (3rd-6th)
April 26th – Makeup Testing
Please avoid making appointments on STAAR testing dates if you are in 3rd-6th grade!
Canyon Creek Elementary Talent Show – April 26
This year’s talent show theme is TEXAS LEGENDS. Talent Show will be on April 26, 2024 at 6:30 pm. Rehearsal will be April 22, 2024. A list of times for each act will be distributed at least one week before rehearsal.
This year’s talent show t-shirt is legendary! Adult and youth sizes available. The online store will be open until Thursday, March 28.

Field Day T-Shirt Orders – April 30
Field Day t-shirts are on sale now through April 30. Each grade level has their own shirt, and they will tye-dye them with Ms. S in Art.

Kindergarten Roundup – May 8
Incoming Kinder students, Kindergarten Roundup will take place Wednesday, May 8th from 5:00-6:00 pm. All incoming kindergarteners are invited to attend with their parents.

Career Day – May 21
We would love for you the share your expertise! We are in need of volunteers to share about their careers. Our goal is to have a wide variety of careers- some that require technical training, others that require college along with a wide variety of areas of interest. We also welcome other family members and community members to volunteer!
Our Career Day will be the morning of May 21st from 8:15-10:15. Speakers will present to different groups for 25 minutes each.
