At other junior high schools in the District, students may have to travel to the high school to take Geometry and Algebra II

Westwood Junior High: The Math, Science, Leadership Magnet offers a distinctive opportunity for students to accelerate by taking Algebra I as a 7th grader. Students, who either
- earn a passing grade in the prescribed advanced Math Multiple Math Pathways Curriculum during the 6th grade or
- pass a Credit by Exam,
are eligible to advance

7th Grade – Prealgebra
8th Grade – Algebra I
Option 2
7th Grade – Algebra 1
8th Grade – Algebra II or Geometry
Option 3
7th Grade – PreAlgebra
8th Grade – Algebra and Geometry (as an elective)
Prealgebra and Algebra I offer On-Level, Advanced, GT.
Additional Elective Opportunity
Math-Based Science is a 7th grade elective also open to students within the Math or Science magnet strand—it enhances student creativity, critical-thinking and problem-solving skills in the context of math, science and engineering.
