Red Ribbon Week is a special time each year when our Forest Meadow community comes together to promote healthy, drug-free lifestyles. This week reminds students and families why making smart choices matters for a bright, successful future.
Why Do We Celebrate Red Ribbon Week?
Red Ribbon Week began as a way to honor a hero who stood against drug abuse. It has grown into a nationwide movement encouraging everyone—especially young people—to say “no” to drugs and “yes” to health, safety, and positive goals.
The Power of Themed Dress-Up Days
Our themed dress-up days during Red Ribbon Week are more than just fun—they help spread important messages in a memorable way! Each day’s theme encourages creativity while reinforcing drug-free choices. For example:
Life is a puzzle…Solve it Drug Free!
- “Red Out” Day: Wearing red symbolizes our commitment to a drug-free life.
- “Team Up to Solve Life’s Puzzles” Day: Wearing team jerseys shows we’re stronger together when we say no to drugs.
- “Follow your Dreams, not Drugs. Put them to rest.” Day: Wearing pajamas to show our dreams are more important than drugs.
- “Piece it together…drug free. Mismatch” Day: Wearing mismatched clothes and shoes to show our commitment to put our lives together drug free.
- “BOOOOO for drugs” Costume Day: We are committed to scaring off the temptation of drugs in our lives.
These themes build excitement and unity, making the message stick with students long after the week ends.
