Congratulations go out to all Bel Canto Treble singers for a fantastic first day of UIL Concert and Sight-Reading assessment. The students sang bravely, showed determination, grit, and perseverance. They represented themselves and Forest Meadow with such PRIDE.
Bel Canto sang a beautiful performance on stage earning a Superior (that’s the highest rating!) from every judge and earned straight superiors in sight-reading as well. Sweepstakes!
Just as a side note, if you haven’t been in choir before and you are curious about what all this means, here’s your short Choir UIL lesson for the week 😊:
· They sing three prepared songs (selected from a prescribed state list) on stage for three judges and one must be acappella (without accompaniment.)
· Then they go to a separate room and read a piece of music “at sight” that they have never seen/sung before the contest day. We are not allowed to use piano or sing audibly until they sing it for the three judges….and they only have six minutes to learn it!
“I am ever mindful and grateful for all the support provided by our Charger Family. Tomorrow 2 more groups go so keep that good mojo coming!“
