Congratulations go out to the Philharmonic and Symphonic Orchestra students on their performance at our UIL state assessment this week. Both groups earned an Excellent rating for their Stage performance and a Superior rating (that’s the highest rating the judges can give) for their Sightreading Performance.
For those of you who are unfamiliar with Orchestra UIL and are curious about what it is, here’s a short explanation for you:
· They perform three prepared songs (selected from a prescribed state list) on stage for three judges
· Then they go to a separate room and read a piece of music “at sight” that they have never seen or played before that day ….and they only have eight minutes to learn it!
Please congratulate these students if you see them. This represents several months of hard work, and “I am so proud of how well they represented FMMS at this event” says Orchestra Director Kara Taeger.
“As always, our music programs at FMMS are fabulous! Thanks to our great teachers!” says Dyslexia Therapist Jill Holston
