Valerie Barron

Principal Valerie Barron

Dear Carolyn G. Bukhair Elementary Families, Staff, and Community,

It is with great excitement, humility, and joy that I introduce myself as the new principal of Carolyn G. Bukhair Elementary. I am truly honored to join this incredible community, and I look forward to getting to know each of you as we work together to support the success and well-being of every student.

Education has been my life’s work for over two decades, all within Fort Worth ISD. Most recently, I had the privilege of serving as principal of Rosemont Middle School, where I led a large and diverse campus focused on strengthening instruction, building a positive school culture, and improving student outcomes. Throughout my career—as a teacher, assistant principal, and principal across elementary, middle, and high school settings—I have remained deeply committed to ensuring that every child feels valued, challenged, and supported.

While I am passionate about my work as an educator, my greatest joy comes from my family. My husband, Jake, and I are proud parents to our two elementary-aged children, Ben and Penny. As a parent myself, I understand how important it is to trust that your children are safe, cared for, and receiving a strong educational foundation. That perspective shapes everything I do as a principal, and it strengthens my commitment to partner closely with you.

As I begin this journey at Carolyn G. Bukhair Elementary, my priorities are simple and heartfelt:

  • Creating a warm, welcoming, and safe environment where every child belongs
  • Ensuring high-quality, engaging learning experiences in every classroom
  • Supporting and growing our amazing teachers and staff
  • Building strong, meaningful partnerships with families
  • Meeting the unique needs of each student with care and intention

I believe that schools are strongest when we work together, and I am committed to listening, learning, and building relationships with our students, families, and staff. You will see me in classrooms, at arrival and dismissal, and at school events—I want to be present, approachable, and connected.

Thank you for the opportunity to serve this community. I am so grateful to be here and excited for all that we will accomplish together for our students.

With gratitude,
Valerie Barron

CBE Principal Anabel Ruiz

Principal Dr. Anabel Ruiz

Hi! I’m Dr. Anabel Ruiz, and I am honored to continue serving as principal at Carolyn G. Bukhair Elementary as I begin my 10th year in school leadership and my 5th year at CBE.
I have been in the field of education for 16 years, having served as both a teacher and a principal. Prior to joining Richardson ISD, I spent five years as the principal of a bilingual campus in Dallas ISD.
I was raised in Zacatecas, Mexico and moved to Texas as a teenager. As the first in my family to graduate from college, I understand both the challenges that first-generation college students face and the life changing impact that education can have. My mission in life is to support students in accessing educational opportunities and to provide the highest quality learning experiences so that every child can thrive regardless of their background.
I hold a bachelor’s degree in International Business with a minor in French and a master’s degree in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from The University of Texas at Arlington. I recently earned my doctoral degree in Educational Leadership from Southern Methodist University, and I remain deeply committed to growing as a leader to better serve our students, families, and staff.
Outside of school, my husband and I enjoy spending time dancing, traveling, reading, and chasing after our two young daughters. We are proudly raising our family in Richardson, and I am grateful for the opportunity to lead and serve in the community I call home.
It is a true privilege to serve the CBE community, and I look forward to continuing our work together to ensure every student reaches their full potential.

With 20 years of experience in education—split evenly between Spain and Dallas ISD—I have held various roles, including high school History teacher, elementary bilingual reading teacher, Montessori bilingual teacher, and reading instructional coach.
I hold two bachelor’s degrees in History and Art History, as well as a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from East Texas A&M University.
Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my husband. Together, we love traveling, reading, playing tennis, and staying active.
