The Lake Highlands High School Wildcat Battalion recently concluded their impactful service learning event, emphasizing the themes of sacrifice and dedication to ideals embodied by our nation’s fallen heroes. The project centered around honoring the memory of those laid to rest at the DFW National Cemetery and preparing for the Annual Wreaths Across America Event. Through four meticulously planned phases, Cadets engaged in meaningful activities that deepened their understanding of service and patriotism.
This year’s effort saw over 240 Wildcat Cadets contributing an impressive total of more than 2,000 community service hours. Partnering with the Berkner High School Ram Battalion, the collaboration strengthened the bond between Richardson ISD JROTC programs while fostering a shared commitment to altruism and civic duty. The initiative not only honored the legacy of our nation’s heroes but also reinforced the values of leadership, teamwork, and selflessness among participating Cadets.
The Wildcat Battalion’s dedication to honoring those who served and inspiring future generations reflects the very essence of JROTC’s mission to motivate young people to be better citizens.
Thank you, LTC (RET) Robert Gerald (JROTC Lead Instructor and 23/24 LHHS Teacher of the Year), MSG (RET) Calvin Washington (JROTC), and SFC (RET) Daisey Andrews (JROTC) for making this experience possible.
