We are thrilled to share the incredible experience our students had during a recent visit from best-selling author Katherine Rundell! Known for her captivating works including Rooftoppers, Cartwheeling in Thunderstorms, The Wolf Wilder, The Explorer, The Good Thieves, and The Zebra’s Great Escape, Katherine brought her unique perspective and adventurous spirit to Liberty Junior High.
Katherine Rundell’s journey as an author is as fascinating as her stories. Growing up in diverse locations such as Zimbabwe, Brussels, and London, she draws inspiration from her rich experiences around the world. Currently, she is a Fellow of All Souls College, Oxford, where her love for literature continues to flourish. Katherine begins each day with a cartwheel and believes that reading is almost exactly the same as cartwheeling—it turns the world upside down and leaves you breathless! When she’s not writing, she enjoys walking on tightropes and exploring the rooftops of Oxford colleges.
During her visit, Katherine shared some of her thrilling adventures, including swimming with pink dolphins and even eating tarantulas! These experiences have not only shaped her as a writer but also served as inspiration for her beloved characters and stories. Our students were captivated by her tales and gained valuable insights into the writing process and the importance of embracing adventure.
As a special treat, Katherine generously left signed copies of her latest book, Impossible Creatures, for our library and Language Arts classrooms. We are excited to have these books available for our students, inspiring them to explore the world of literature and creativity.
Katherine Rundell’s visit was a memorable event that encouraged our students to think outside the box and embrace their own journeys. We are grateful for the inspiration she provided and look forward to seeing how her words influence the budding writers among us.
