Principal Chris Gibson
Greetings Liberty Junior High Community and Stakeholders,
My name is Chris Gibson, and I am honored to introduce myself as the new principal of Liberty Junior High. With more than 20 years’ experience in education, I bring a passion for student success, a commitment to equity, and a track record of fostering inclusive, high-achieving school communities.
Throughout my career, I’ve served as a principal, assistant principal, instructional coach, and classroom teacher. I hold an Education Specialist (Ed.S) degree from Wayne State University, a Master’s and Bachelor’s degree from Western Michigan University, and I am currently pursuing my Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) at Abilene Christian University.
Being a husband and father are two of my greatest accomplishments. I’ve been married to my amazing wife, Monique, for 23 years, and together we have two wonderful children—Olivia (21) and Jonah (17).
As your new principal, I am excited to partner with students, staff, families, and the broader community to ensure Liberty Junior High is a place where every student is empowered to succeed. I look forward to getting to know each of you and working together to build on the strong foundation already in place.
Let’s make this school year one of growth, achievement, and unity!
Sincerely,
Chris Gibson

Assistant Principal Josh Baird
Hello! I am proud to be entering my 7th year at Liberty Junior High and my 18th year in education. After spending 11 incredible years teaching 7th and 8th grade social studies in Garland ISD, I joined Richardson ISD as an administrator in 2019 and have felt right at home ever since. I’m deeply passionate about junior high students and committed to helping them grow and thrive during this pivotal stage in life.
I am supported by my lovely wife, Jen and our two amazing sons, Benjamin (3) and Teddy (8). My wife and I met teaching in 2007, and our shared passion for education continues to guide our lives.
As a proud RISD alum and Lake Highlands High School graduate (Class of 2000), I bring a strong connection to the district and community. Over the years I have shifted my allegiance to be a proud member of the Berkner #Ramily. I earned a B.S. in Communications with minors in Spanish and History from the University of Oklahoma and later completed my M.Ed. at Stephen F. Austin State University.
In my role as Associate Principal, I strive to bring calm, empathy, and problem-solving to every situation. I believe in maintaining an open-door policy for students, staff, and families—working collaboratively to build strong relationships and positive outcomes.
My professional goal is to continue supporting and empowering educators, students and families, to grow their strengths and provide a pathway to overcome challenges, leading to increased academic and social outcomes for our Liberty stakeholders. I look forward to another great year of learning, leading, and growing at Liberty Junior High!

Assistant Principal Amiee Himler
My name is Amiee Himler, and I’m incredibly honored to support and grow alongside our amazing students, staff, and families as an Assistant Principal at Liberty Junior High.
I began my journey in education at the UT Dallas, where I earned a Bachelor’s in Mathematics and completed my teacher certification through the UTeach Dallas program. That program is what connected me to Richardson ISD, and it quickly became my home away from home. I started my career as a high school math teacher and grew as an educational leader as I returned to UT Dallas to puruse my Masters in Mathematics Education.
I later joined the district’s Teaching & Learning Department as a Secondary Math Specialist for one year and then transitioned for 3 years as a PreK–12 STEM Specialist. As much as I loved my time at the district level and positively impacting students problem-solving skills across RISD, I deeply missed the daily connection with students and staff, so I followed my heart back to campus life. I pursued a Master of Education in Educational Leadership from the University of North Texas, which led me to my current role as assistant principal at Liberty JH.
When I’m not working, I am somewhere spending time with my family, who I briefly mentioned earlier. I am married to my college sweetheart, Josh, and we have two wonderful children. Our favorite things to do together are play strategy board games and travel around the United States. Their love and support have shaped who I am today, and I bring that same passion and commitment into my work each day at Liberty.
