On Thursday, July 30, Liberty Junior High hosted its second Parent Information Meeting for the campus transformation project as part of Richardson ISD’s voter-approved Bond 2025 program. Thank you to the families who attended.

During the meeting, district leaders shared updates on construction progress, student safety, traffic management, and temporary athletic adjustments while reaffirming Richardson ISD’s commitment to providing a safe learning environment and keeping families informed throughout every phase of construction.
Construction Progress
District Facilities Services staff provided an overview of the project’s current phase and highlighted work completed during Summer 2026. Construction fencing and site mobilization have been completed; the existing bus loop and front drive will remain open for the 2026-27 school year, and temporary parking spaces will be completed before school begins. Construction of the new Liberty Middle School building is now underway and will continue throughout the Fall 2026 semester while the existing campus remains operational.
Student Safety
Safety remains the district’s highest priority throughout construction. Extensive safety measures have been implemented to maintain complete separation between students, staff and construction activities. These include:
- Required background checks and identification badges for all construction workers.
- Secure construction fencing, privacy screens and locked gates with controlled access.
- Daily campus safety inspections and weekly coordination meetings between the construction team and campus leadership.
- Separate entrances and parking for construction personnel, along with clear traffic signage to keep construction and school operations separate at all times.
Emergency egress routes and student muster points were also reviewed to ensure families understand that established emergency procedures will remain in place throughout construction.
Traffic and Campus Operations
Families received an overview of traffic patterns for the 2026-27 school year, including designated areas for bus transportation, parent drop-off and pick-up, visitor parking, staff and event parking, and student entrances. Buses and student pickup/drop-off will occur at the front of the campus, off Lawler. Construction activity will remain separated from daily campus operations to help minimize disruptions and maintain safe access for students, staff and visitors.
Athletics
There will be several temporary adjustments to athletic facilities during construction for both games and practices.
Track and field facilities and the tennis courts will be unavailable during this phase, while both the competition gym and practice gym at Liberty will remain available.
Football and soccer will practice at Forestridge Elementary, track and tennis will be held at Berkner High School. Volleyball and basketball games and practices will continue in the Liberty gym.
Coaches will communicate specific practice schedules and team information once tryouts and team selections have been finalized.
