Students at Mst Magnet had the opportunity to engage in authentic, real-world STEM work; collecting unique samples
to contribute to the world’s first open-access microbial library database, helping to find new treatments for disease!
The partnership with Epolleo Microbial Biodiversity Curated Library, a nonprofit based in South Dakota, enhances biodiversity education and microbial research
that ensures long-term scientific value and real impact. MST is the first school outside SD to participate in the program.
5th and 6th graders spent the morning mapping the microbiome of the school and collecting samples of decomposers, plants, and ant hills, while documenting their findings and observations.
Thank you to 1FinityInc for providing the enrichment opportunity that inspires the next generation of scientists!
