Richardson ISD is pleased to announce that the Math Science Technology Magnet (MST) has been recognized as an Apple Distinguished School for 2026–2029 for using Apple technology in innovative ways to inspire, imagine, and impact teaching and learning through its STEM integration and purposeful technology experiences. This is the second time MST has earned this designation, previously in 2022-2025.
Apple Distinguished Schools are centers of innovation, leadership, and educational excellence. They use Apple technology to inspire creativity, collaboration and critical thinking in learning, teaching and the school environment, and have documented results of academic accomplishment.
“At MST, technology is a tool that empowers our students to create, collaborate, problem-solve, and bring their ideas to life,” said MST Magnet Principal Dr. Lauren Bolack. “Earning our second Apple Distinguished School recognition celebrates our teachers’ commitment to creating meaningful learning experiences and our students’ ability to dream, design, and do.” The selection of MST Magnet as an Apple Distinguished School highlights their success in providing an innovative and compelling learning environment that engages students and provides tangible evidence of academic achievement.
Each MST Magnet student leverages their assigned iPad to access apps and technology blended throughout different portions of the K-6 curriculum, and is utilized by teachers trained to thoughtfully integrate technology into the learning experience. MST is also home to 4 Apple Distinguished Educators (ADE), which is a professional learning program that recognizes K–12 and higher education pioneers who are using Apple technology to transform teaching and learning. Among the teaching staff are also 5 Apple Learning Coaches, who guide teachers on integrating Apple devices (iPad, Mac) into daily lessons, fostering a “Coaching Action Plan” to enhance classroom learning. Certified coaches act as in-house experts to support staff with personalized, student-centered instruction.
MST students are given voice and agency in how and where they learn. After learning new concepts, students select the best tools and applications to apply their learning, such as iMovie, Clips, Pages, Keynote, GarageBand, Numbers and AR Makr. Students can often be found gathered in hallways, recording booths, and in the garden as they collaborate on their learning tasks.
Students are taught and encouraged to use technology responsibly as a tool in their learning, with careful attention from teachers to balance digital learning with effective traditional methods.
Math, Science Technology Magnet is an A-rated K-6 elementary school in Richardson ISD, open to all families within the school district. MST’s qualified and experienced educators teach the Texas curriculum in engaging and innovative ways through hands-on activities and responsible use of technology.
