Catie Sheffield, Assistant Principal at Arapaho Classical Magnet and Richardson ISD’s 2025–2026 Elementary Assistant Principal of the Year, has been appointed principal of Mohawk Elementary beginning in the 2026–2027 school year.
With a deep commitment to student success and instructional excellence, Catie Sheffield brings extensive experience in educational leadership, data-driven decision-making, and teacher development. She has served in public education for over a decade. She has spent the past five years at ACM advancing campus-wide achievement and building a culture centered on growth, collaboration, and continuous improvement for both students and staff.
As an Assistant Principal, Sheffield plays a key role in shaping the instructional vision of her campus. She is an active member of the Instructional Leadership Team and has participated in the Teaching Trust cohort, where she developed expertise in professional learning communities and data-driven instruction models. Her leadership responsibilities include overseeing the Campus Improvement Plan, conducting classroom observations and coaching cycles, analyzing student performance data, and designing meaningful professional development for staff. She is deeply committed to building strong systems that support both teacher effectiveness and student growth.
Sheffield began her career in Mesquite ISD as a classroom teacher, where she taught third and fifth grade in both self-contained and departmentalized settings. During this time, she built a strong foundation in delivering effective instruction and creating structured, engaging learning environments. Her passion for student achievement and instructional excellence led her to the role of Campus Math Specialist at Hamilton Park Pacesetter Magnet, where she supported teachers through coaching, professional learning, and data analysis to improve student outcomes.
Sheffield holds a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Southern Methodist University and a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Ouachita Baptist University. Her leadership is grounded in the belief that investing in teachers is the most powerful way to impact student success. She is passionate about mentoring educators, developing future leaders, and building strong partnerships with families and the community.With a clear vision centered on growth, collaboration, and high expectations.
