TSIA Test Date
October 16 @ 9:00 am - 2:00 pm
The TSIA (Texas Success Initiative Assessment, previously known as the Accuplacer) is a college placement exam that colleges and universities use to determine whether or not students should be enrolled in remedial coursework upon enrolling in college. Students who do not meet this requirement (or the minimum scores listed above for ACT or SAT) will be required to enroll in and pay for remedial classes that do not count toward their college graduation plan.
Pearce High School will be hosting the 1st round of TSIA on October 16th of this school year. This is currently offered first to seniors and juniors. Juniors who are already taking the PSAT on the same date will have the opportunity to take the TSI in November.
Preparing for the TSIA: Current 11th and 12th graders who are enrolled in Texas College Bridge should prepare by completing the TCB program. At the bottom of this page, there are some free practice tests and resources. Here is a practice essay. The rubric included is similar to the grading criteria for the TSIA. Unfortunately, TSIA is pretty vague with their rubric (here, page 4), but they do want to see 4 paragraphs with 5 sentences in each.
