Bands at UIL

The J.J. Pearce Symphonic Band received straight first division ratings from all judges today at the 2026 Region 20 UIL Concert & Sightreading contest! Congratulations to these awesome students and their fabulous director Mrs. Katie Harrison!

The amazing students pictured below and to the right earned straight 1s from all judges at the UIL Region 20 concert and sightreading contest!

This marks the first time that all seven bands in the Pearce Learning Community earned straight first division ratings from all judges SINCE 2007!

The J.J. Pearce Wind Symphony is conducted by incomparable Brandon Day and rising band star Eric Boatman. They led the students beautifully today with impressive musical craft.

Shown in the bottom picture is the Wind Ensemble (Varsity Band) who played a very difficult program with maturity and dexterity. Jason Schayot directs the Varsity Band.

Senior Feature: Inspired by His Father’s Work, Pearce Senior Builds Path to UT Engineering

From watching his dad work hard on construction sites to a full ride to the University of Texas for civil engineering, Pearce High School senior Jose Patino’s journey has been shaped by determination and intentionality to build something that lasts. As a child of immigrants, his parents laid a strong foundation so he could embrace opportunities, earning admission to all 12 colleges he applied to while inspiring others along the way.
