Professional Internship Program

Why choose PIP?

PIP is a one-semester, double blocked course, so students have about 3 hours twice a week to intern off campus during the school day (zero or 9th hours can be added, if needed)

Choose a career field that aligns with your interests and goals

PIP counts as 1 CTE (Career & Technical Education) and is considered a CTE “Completer” course

Gain hands-on industry knowledge before committing time and tuition in a college or tech program

Differentiate yourself by showcasing real-world experience, initiative, and professional skills on your college applications, resumes, and scholarship submissions

Seniors who successfully complete the program are eligible for a letter of recommendation from the Mayor of Richardson

Richardson ISD is the only district offering this unique program

How to Apply

Applications are available in the counseling office, or contact catherine.burdette@risd.org. Deadline to apply for PIP 2025-26 is February 7th
