Campus Recognition – Allie

Allie

RHS senior Allie Moore has always marched to the beat of her own drum. For the past four years, I’ve made frequent note of her distinctive artistic and creative personality because she loves to express herself day-to-day with inventive fashion and makeup stylings.

Allie’s dad died by suicide when she was 10. Throughout the years, she and her mom have worked to raise awareness about mental health. In elementary school, Allie designed “”keys”” with a semicolon, the symbol for suicide awareness which raises awareness of suicide prevention, depression, addiction, and sold them at a school carnival to raise money for a suicide prevention foundation.

This year during homecoming, Allie wore a mum that promoted suicide prevention awareness. It was adorned with several photos of both her and her dad along with numerous representations of the semicolon symbol. Across the back of the sash, were the words, “”You Matter.”” Allie also carried with her mini teal and purple suicide prevention ribbons for anyone wanting to join her crusade to spread the important message that day.

Allie’s personal experience of the tragic impact of suicide has motivated her to continually look for opportunities to promote mental health causes and suicide prevention awareness.
