Animal Science students at Richardson High School explored real-world careers and college pathways by connecting with industry professionals and higher education representatives during a hands-on career exploration event.

Eight RISD teachers were surprised and celebrated on Feb. 3 and recognized as RISD Super Teachers for the second grading period in the 2025-26 school year.

The 15-game winning streak wasn’t a product of luck; it was a product of a standard. When you look at the ’60+ PPG’ record, you aren’t just seeing talent—you’re seeing a system. Coach Kelly Dansby understood that a high-octane offense only works if the culture is high-discipline.

During the 2020–2021 season, when the team navigated an 11-2 record amidst unprecedented challenges, Dansby’s leadership was the constant. She didn’t just coach a playbook; she coached a mindset. From being named the RISD Coach of the Year to clinching her 100th career victory, the numbers simply reflect the relentless preparation she demanded. In the record books, it reads ’29-5,’ but in the gym, it felt like a masterclass in excellence.

Coach Kevin Lawson recently achieved his 200th career victory! For those who have been here for several years, you know that Coach Lawson and his staff have created some great memories and brought multiple championships to RHS. Every single victory has been achieved with great character and class, reflecting a shining light on our school and community. More importantly than the wins is his commitment to teaching his players to be young men of excellence who will thrive in society.

RHS Choir Students Make All State Choir

The most important lessons for student athletes aren’t always found through competition, but through service, leadership, and intention.

Richardson High Teaching Internship students competed in the TAFE (Texas Association of Future Educators) Area 11 competition & have advanced to state!!!!! TAFE is co curricular student organization for high schoolers exploring teaching careers, where they showcase skills in various categories like public speaking, lesson planning (Creative Lecture, Breakout Sessions), and educational materials, THIRTY-THREE students

This year’s success allowed both of our academic teams to qualify and move to the second round which will be held first week of February.

Not By Chance: Stories of Individual Determination features RHS AVID graduate, Mohammed Kara (’15), whose story of resilience was selected among nominees nationwide. The book also highlights the contributions of RHS AVID Coordinator, Beth Brown, for her role in developing the book’s inspiring themes.
