Welcome to the MST Magnet!

Dream It. Design It. Do It.

Math Science Technology (MST) Magnet Elementary is a nationally recognized Pre-K–6 STEM Engineering Magnet campus serving students from across Richardson ISD. As a Nationally Certified Magnet School through Magnet Schools of America, an Apple Distinguished School, a Nationally Certified STEM Campus, and an AVID Elementary Showcase School, MST is committed to providing innovative, engaging, and rigorous learning experiences that empower students to become creative thinkers, confident leaders, and problem-solvers prepared for the future.

Led by Dr. Lauren Bolack, Principal, and Assistant Principals Bobbie Lewis and Emily Jarvis, MST is proud of its culture of academic excellence, strong community partnerships, and commitment to developing future-ready learners. Our recent National Magnet School Certification (2026–2030) and Apple Distinguished School renewal (2026–2029) recognize the strength of our instructional programs, innovative use of technology, and dedication to student achievement, equity, and opportunity.

As we continue our journey toward becoming an AVID Demonstration School, we are strengthening a schoolwide college- and career-going culture where students develop the academic habits, organizational skills, collaboration strategies, and confidence necessary for lifelong success.

At MST, we believe every student has the potential to dream boldly, design innovative solutions, and make a meaningful impact. Our vibrant community of students, families, educators, and industry partners works together to bring our vision to life.

Signature Programs & Pillars of Our Magnet Experience

  • STEM & Engineering Integration
The Engineering Design Process is embedded throughout our instructional program, encouraging students to ask questions, imagine possibilities, design solutions, test ideas, and improve their work. Through authentic engineering challenges and interdisciplinary learning, students develop creativity, collaboration, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • AVID Schoolwide & College and Career Readiness
As an AVID Elementary Showcase School pursuing AVID Demonstration School designation, MST intentionally integrates WICOR (Writing, Inquiry, Collaboration, Organization, and Reading) strategies across all grade levels. Focused note-taking, student goal setting, organizational systems, collaborative learning, and student leadership opportunities empower learners to take ownership of their academic success. Our AVID Ambassadors help promote a schoolwide culture of leadership and college and career readiness.
  • MST House System & School Culture
Every student belongs to one of five MST Houses—Integrity, Respect, Encouragement, Discipline, and Positivity—creating meaningful cross-grade connections and a strong sense of belonging. Our House System promotes leadership, character, service, positive relationships, and school pride while reinforcing our campus expectations of being Safe, Respectful, and Responsible.
  • Project-Based Learning & Standards-Based Learning
Authentic project-based learning challenges students to apply academic knowledge to real-world problems through inquiry, research, collaboration, and engineering design. Through proficiency scales, clearly defined learning targets, student self-assessment, and meaningful feedback, students understand what they are learning, evaluate their progress, and identify next steps toward mastery.
  • Apple Distinguished School & Technology Innovation
Technology is intentionally integrated to enhance creativity, collaboration, communication, and personalized learning. Students use iPads and innovative digital tools for coding, multimedia creation, research, digital portfolios, and demonstrating their understanding. Our Apple Distinguished School recognition reflects our commitment to using technology to transform learning and amplify student voice and choice.
  • Robotics, Coding & STEM Innovation
Students engage in progressively challenging computational thinking, coding, robotics, and design experiences. From foundational coding and LEGO robotics in the primary grades to VEX Robotics, Sphero, 3D printing, laser cutting, and digital design in the upper grades, students develop technical skills while applying the Engineering Design Process to authentic challenges. Our STEM Lab provides dedicated opportunities for exploration, creativity, innovation, and hands-on problem-solving.
  • Outdoor Learning & Environmental Engineering
Our school garden and outdoor learning spaces serve as extensions of the classroom, providing opportunities to explore environmental science, sustainability, composting, hydroponics, and real-world problem-solving. Students engage in meaningful investigations that connect science, engineering, mathematics, and environmental stewardship through partnerships with community organizations.
  • Student Leadership, Voice & Agency
MST students are empowered to take an active role in their learning and school community. Through AVID Ambassadors, student technology leadership, collaborative learning experiences, goal setting, and opportunities to share their learning with authentic audiences, students develop confidence, communication skills, and a sense of responsibility for their success.
  • Enrichment & Authentic Learning Experiences
Learning extends beyond the traditional classroom through programs such as Super Saturdays, Engineering Extensions, student-led initiatives, and our Brew-tiful Minds coffee shop. These experiences connect academic learning to entrepreneurship, leadership, creativity, and real-world applications while strengthening relationships within our school community.
  • Gifted & Talented Instructional Practices
Advanced learning and gifted instructional strategies are intentionally embedded throughout our classrooms, providing opportunities for students to engage in deeper thinking, creative problem-solving, inquiry, and appropriately challenging learning experiences.
  • Responsive Acceleration Pathway (RAP)
MST is home to Richardson ISD’s Responsive Acceleration Pathway (RAP) program, providing specialized, accelerated learning experiences for identified students while maintaining connections to our broader STEM Engineering Magnet community.
  • Growth Mindset & Student Empowerment
At MST, students learn that challenges are opportunities for growth. Through reflection, goal setting, productive struggle, perseverance, and meaningful feedback, students develop the confidence to take academic risks, learn from mistakes, celebrate progress, and recognize their potential to achieve extraordinary things.

Dream It. Design It. Do It.

At MST, our commitment to excellence extends beyond academic achievement. We are developing innovators, engineers, collaborators, leaders, and lifelong learners who have the knowledge, skills, and confidence to make a difference.

Our national recognitions reflect the extraordinary work happening throughout our campus, but our greatest success is found in the growth, creativity, and accomplishments of our students.

MST is the place to be—where every White Tiger is empowered to Dream It. Design It. Do It.!

Mission

Through the process of inquiry, the MST Magnet will develop intrinsically motivated students who are innovative problem solvers in a dynamic community.
