About Our School
Welcome to the MST Magnet!
Math Science Technology (MST) Magnet Elementary is a Pre-K–6 STEM Engineering Magnet campus that welcomes kindergarten through sixth-grade students from across Richardson ISD. As an Apple Distinguished School, AVID Showcase School, and a district leader in STEM innovation, MST provides hands-on, inquiry-based learning experiences that prepare students to think critically, collaborate, and engineer solutions for the future.
Led by Dr. Lauren Bolack, Principal, and Willette Armstrong, Assistant Principal, MST is known for its culture of excellence, community partnerships, and commitment to “Engineering the Future” through real-world learning, innovation, and authentic student voice.
Our campus thrives because of our active and diverse community of students, families, staff, and partners who support academic, cultural, and engineering-based learning.
Signature Programs & Pillars of Our Magnet Experience

All students are sorted into one of the MST Houses—Integrity, Respect, Encouragement, Discipline, and Positivity—forming cross-grade communities that build belonging, leadership, service, and school pride. - STEM & Engineering Integration
Students engage daily in hands-on STEM and engineering challenges aligned to the Engineering Design Process, AVID integration, and the RISD Learner Framework. Lessons emphasize collaboration, critical thinking, problem-solving, and student agency. - Project-Based Learning & Competency-Based Learning
Our instructional model prioritizes inquiry, authentic tasks, success criteria, and mastery-based rubrics that empower students to take ownership of their learning. - Outdoor Learning & Garden STEM Lab
Students participate in outdoor STEM activities through our school garden, composting program, LabDisc sensors, robotics integration, and sustainability projects developed in partnership with community organizations. - Enrichment Programs & Technology Innovation
MST students access robotics, 3D printing, coding, multimedia production, iPad-enhanced learning, and unique programs such as Super Saturdays, Engineering Extensions, and the student-run Brew-tiful Minds coffee shop. - Gifted & Talented Instructional Practices
G/T and advanced learning strategies are embedded in all classrooms to ensure rigor, depth, and creativity for every student. - Responsive Acceleration Pathway (RAP)
MST is home to Richardson ISD’s district RAP program, offering accelerated learning opportunities for identified students.
• Growth Mindset & Student Empowerment
Students learn to set goals, reflect on progress, build resilience, and develop the confidence to take risks in their learning.
