It’s #MagnetSchoolsMonth, and at MST, the spotlight shines on our students and the real-world impact they make every day.
Our White Tigers do not just learn about problem solving. They identify problems, design solutions, and implement change.
When students noticed how much food was being thrown away in the cafeteria, they launched a campus composting project, studying sustainability and decomposition while actively reducing waste. Their learning extended beyond science standards into real environmental impact for our school.
When paper bathroom passes kept getting torn and ruined, students engineered a better solution. Using the design process, they 3D printed durable bathroom passes, brainstorming, prototyping, testing, and refining until they created something that solved a real campus need.
In 4th grade Market Day, classrooms transform into businesses. Students design products, create marketing plans, manage budgets, calculate profits, and serve customers. Through this authentic experience, they build financial literacy, entrepreneurship skills, and confidence as communicators and leaders.
Leadership is a daily expectation at MST.
Our AVID Ambassadors and Tour Guides welcome visitors, lead campus tours, share their learning experiences, and model organization, goal setting, and student ownership. They represent MST with pride and show what it looks like when students truly take charge of their education.
And then there is Design Day — one of the most exciting days of the year.
On Design Day, every K–6 student participates in an immersive, hands-on STEM experience where the entire campus transforms into a hub of innovation. Students tackle grade-specific engineering challenges ranging from robotics and aerospace design to environmental problem solving. They collaborate, test ideas, redesign, and persevere using the engineering design process to solve real-world problems. It is a powerful showcase of critical thinking, creativity, and teamwork in action.
Magnet Schools Month highlights distinctive programs, but what makes MST special is not just what we offer. It is what our students do with those opportunities.
They see problems.
They design solutions.
They lead with confidence.
They are not waiting for the future.
They are already Engineering the Future.
